There's no shortage of sexism related to mermaids.
In a lot of folk lore, mermaids are blamed for bad storms and doomed voyages. Or they're said to lure men out to sea to be drowned.
In advertising, they're mostly ornamental. At least in these ads, the mermaids support the messaging.
The last ad in the series is my least favorite. The mermaid on the table is asking you to eat her. (Get it? Get it? Get it?) It's such a weak idea, I'm having a difficult time working up some feminist rage.

According to Wikipedia:
Big Ass Fans was founded in 1999 as the HVLS Fan Co. by owner J. Carey Smith. The company's name was changed to the Big Ass Fan Company in 2002. Due to the name change, Lexington's Blue Grass Airport declined advertising from the company, and residents staged protests of a 10-ft. mural depicting the name and company mascot, "Fanny," on the side of the company's building.
I'd never heard of this brand before. But then I live in the Northeast. Ceiling fans are not de rigeur up here.
