Ad from the Big Ass Fans. It appeard in Sunday's New York Times Magazine.
According to Wikipedia:
Big Ass Fans was founded in 1999 as the HVLS Fan Co. by owner J. Carey Smith. The company's name was changed to the Big Ass Fan Company in 2002. Due to the name change, Lexington's Blue Grass Airport declined advertising from the company, and residents staged protests of a 10-ft. mural depicting the name and company mascot, "Fanny," on the side of the company's building.
I'd never heard of this brand before. But then I live in the Northeast. Ceiling fans are not de rigeur up here.
I like cats, so showing a cat in your ad got my attention.
Turning said cat into a flaky pastry was a bold move but I like weird so you're okay there.
However, trying to scare me with fear of cat germs just makes me laugh. I kiss my cats on the lips. There are usually little bits of kitty litter in my bed. No doubt there are undiscovered puddles of cat gak in my house right now.
If you want to scare me, you'll have to do better.
