The Daily Mail has an interesting article on the life of cosmetics innovator, Helena Rubenstein.
The article credits Ms. Rubenstein with taking makeup mainstream. Until around World War I, only actresses and prostitutes wore makeup. And in the polite society of the day, actresses and prostitutes were considered the same thing.
I love playing with makeup, so I'm very grateful to Helena Rubenstein. I would hate to have had to chose between cosmetics and my virtue.
