I once mailed one of my uncles in Slovenia a field guide that allowed one to identify birds based on the size, color and shape of the splatter caused by their poop hitting a car windshield. Seriously.
I inscribed the book, "In the U.S., one can buy anything." Slovenia was then still a part of Communist
Yugoslavia and lacking a large selection of consumer goods, so the inscription was very relevant.
Today, the inscription would more likely read, "On the Internet, one can buy anything."
Which brings me to Christian Outdoorsman, an Internet-based organization dedicated to using "the outdoors for personal development, discipleship, fellowship, and outreach."
Keeping my PETA-loving thoughts to myself, let me go directly to the topic of Christian Outdoorsman's on-line product catalog. Offered are a number of camouflaged Bibles, including the female child's model that comes in pink; various hats and
T-shirts that identify one as a Christian Outdoorsman to other hunters; and Christian DVDs that are described as "great for men's groups, seekers and personal viewing." (Is it me or does that sound like someone selling porn? I'm not implying the site does sell porn,I just find that wording curious.)
