Cockta is a brand of soda from my homeland, Slovenia. For years, it was the only soda available in Slovenia — the Commies didn't make Coca-Cola readily available until the late 1960s.
According to Wikipedia, Cockta's "main ingredient comes from the dog rose hip. The other ingredients come from 11 different herbs, lemon and orange."
I think it tastes great, but I grew up drinking it. My brothers, who did not, hate it.
But then, my South-Side Chicagoan husband and our 18-year-old New Englander nephew love it, too.
Who are you going to believe?

Coincidentally, Cockta's tag line, translated, is: You never forget your first one.
If you're in the Boston area and want to try some, you can buy Cockta at Elma's Market, Ferry Street, in Everett. That's where I go for my stateside fix.
