NYTO Studios has created The American Comfort Quilt.
As their website explains:
With today's increasingly fractured social fabric, it is now brands that give us a feeling of collective identity, heritage, and continuity, gradually taking over the role that family and cultural heritage once held. Our identities are no longer defined by our ancestors and our traditions so much as by multinational corporations who shape our personas through advertising and product placement. This quilt forces us to question the cultural legacy we are passing along to the next generation."
Wow. That's deep.
Or a valiant attempt at convincing trademark lawyers that these towels are art and therefore not infringing on anyone's copyright.

Speaking of Hot Wheels cars, this is a print my husband, Gary Reynolds, recently created and titled, Collect Them All!

If you need an old movie to watch today, find Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. Dad is an advertising guy played by Cary Grant, Myrna Loy plays his wife and Louise Beavers is Gussie, the maid who comes up with the perfect tag line for Wham ham.
Fair warning: By the standards of the day --the movie was released in 1948 -- Gussie, the African American maid, was a jolly, lovable character; by today's standards, she's an incredibly stereotypical one.
I'm mad for shadow boxes, so I can't say enough wonderful things about this campaign.
