Advertisers love slapping QR codes on ads. Trouble is, few people are using them.

Too many QR codes simply bring the user to the advertiser's website. Big whoop.
The disappointing rewards for scanning QR codes have trained many consumers to ignore them.
Successful QR codes lead users to special offers, custom landing pages and other meaningful content that the user doesn't already have easy access to.
I have no doubt QR codes will someday be more popular. But only when more advertisers realize that simply offering a QR code is not the same as actually putting it to work.
