The people behind Microsoft Songsmith may have been going for irony, like the Once More, with Feeling episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Then, again, that may be giving them too much credit.

You remember the product though, right?
I'm not up with censorship, but it would be nice if someone with some influence had a "Worst Advertising of the Year" award to dump some non-partisan ridicule upon the worst offenders of advertising good taste and immoral manipulation techniques.
