Yesterday was the official opening of the Redeye Roasters Coffee & Espresso Lounge, located on the harbor, at 3 Otis Street, in Hingham, Massachusetts.
Owner Bob Weeks is a former advertising creative guy who left the business five years ago to start a coffee roasting business.
Here's Bob with his wife, Jamieson Weeks, a senior art director with whom I work.
This is the coffee roaster that used to be in Bob and Jamieson's house, vented through their living room. Its new home is in the new Redeye Roasters shop.
Redeye Roasters is an airy, inviting place with a beautiful view of Hingham Harbor. The decor is unique, with a counter and display cases made from re-purposed wood by the Weeks' friend, artisan Rich Dunbrack, owner of The Thieving Magpie.
The coffee, made from freshly-roasted beans that Bob discovers during his trips abroad, is amazing and well worth the trip.
If you can't make it to Hingham, you can order freshly roasted coffee from the Redeye Roasters website.
This coffee roaster was in the documentary "Lemonade", about second careers. The movie's tagline is "It's not a pink slip. It's a blank page."
