Websites are here to stay

A lot of people are predicting that websites will soon be a thing of the past.

Nonsense.

Can you think of a single company that can afford to permanently take down its website? The role of websites may be evolving, but websites are too valuable a resource to disappear.

The need for websites struck home this weekend when I borrowed my brother's power washer. I'd never used one before. To get instructions, I simply went online and downloaded the owner's manual for my brother's power washer.

For most of us, websites will continue to be the go-to source for reliable information.

Earlier this month, I posted this movie poster for The Help. While on vacation, I read the book by Kathryn Stockett on which it's based. It was great — I highly recommend it.

All aboard the schizophrenia bus

Last week, the annual conference of the American Psychiatric Association was held in Honolulu. I went to Hawaii with my parents — my father is a psychiatrist and Distinguished Fellow of the APA.

Sunovion Pharmaceuticals provided conference attendees with free shuttle service between the Hawaii Convention Center and local hotels. Above are a few photos of the wrapped bus sponsored by Sunovion.

Since most of the buses in Honolulu are wrapped in ads with tropical themes, I thought this was pretty nice way to remind psychiatric health professionals of one option for treatment.

Facebook and divorce in America

According to a story from WTSP.com in Tampa:

A recent survey by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers found that Facebook is cited in one in five divorces in the United States. Also, more than 80 percent of divorce lawyers reported a rising number of people are using social media to engage in affairs.
